How To Properly Clean Your Microwave Oven
One of the most admired appliances these days is the microwave oven. From cooking sumptuous treats to reheating leftover foods, its usefulness is truly remarkable. It’s no wonder why it’s a staple in most modern kitchens. But it seems that it’s also frequently neglected in terms of cleaning and maintenance.
Although there are a few types available, maintenance and cleaning requirements are basically the same. The most common type is the countertop microwave oven. Cleaning requirements involve getting rid of specks of food that are stuck on the walls inside. It frequently involves getting rid of the smell too.
Before cleaning, make sure that you unplug the oven for your safety. Spray the inside with orange kitchen spray, letting it stand for at least a few minutes. You may also use club soda placed in a spray bottle. If you wish to use homemade cleaners, you can make a paste of baking soda with vinegar. Or you may simply use vinegar as a spray.
Using a non-abrasive pad or sponge, wipe off the cleaning solution thoroughly. You can rinse the pad or sponge in warm water, if necessary. Thoroughly dry the inside walls using a kitchen towel. Some ovens may necessitate a few extra cleaning instructions. For instance, a GE microwave oven may have a few extra needs, so check the appliance’s manual.
Eliminating the smell inside the oven is not at all that difficult. Get 2-3 lemons, cut them into thin slices, and place in a bowl of water. Heat it in the microwave for around 5 minutes. You may also use a cup of water with a tablespoon of vinegar. The same is true with lemon juice sold at grocery stores.
Having an over the range microwave means having to clean two different appliances. Cleaning the vent part requires you to take it apart. Carefully detach the hood filter. Let it soak for 5 minutes in warm water. Afterwards, spray with your preferred cleaning solution. Let it work there for about 15 minutes before scrubbing it with a pad that’s non-abrasive. Rinse it with water afterwards.
Spray the inside of the vent with your choice of cleaning solution. Make sure to avoid the light and crevices. Let it stay there for 15 minutes before wiping off with a damp cloth or sponge. Repeat until the solution is completely gone. Use a brush for hard-to-reach areas. Dry with a paper towel thoroughly, then replace the filter.
