Make Your Beats

Whether you’re into soul or hip hop, still, the most definite path to branding yourself in the industry stays the same: you should create your beats while continuing on your own brand of music.

Reasonably, it can be quiet daunting to think about creating your own beats. Nonetheless, it’s important that you do your best and see this as a challenge rather than allowing it to discourage you from following your aspirations.

Make Your Beats Count…Start by Mastering Your Genre

Of course, don’t take this advice to the extreme and challenge yourself into developing a totally new genre. While it’s possible, you might need to expand your repertoire a bit first. Meanwhile, there is nothing wrong with devoting your precious time to enhancing your skills and expanding your mastery of your preferred genre. You can analyze the works of your associates and see if that motivates you into creating self-made sounds better than ever.

By devoting your time to be proficient in your genre, you have already placed yourself a step ahead of equally debuting musicians and enhancing your potential as a music artist.

One nice thing about the music industry these days is the improved availability to the needed equipment for enthusiastic musicians like you. At present, you don’t need a large mount of money to spend just to get hold of the technology for producing your own music beats.

Creating the right beat for your music consists of three major components: midi drum patterns, audio loops, and bass line. These components are applicable to all kinds of music so it’s imperative that you understand how they work and what they can contribute to your music.

A music track’s bass line is its underlying frame. It is made up of a collection of notes or music beats that will be played repeatedly and which all other parts of your song would have to work with so that your piece has sense of harmony.

You can devote as much time as you want improving your bass line. If your bass line does not work, then the rest of your song won’t work either.

The second factor you have to consider is the audio loop. This is a favorite amongst rap and hip hop makers. They are commonly used for altering your music’s primary theme or mood. To produce one, just mix a collection of notes from musical instruments or any other source of sound. With audio loops, playing and experimenting can be done freely until you hit upon the perfect set of music beats.

Finally, you need to produce midi drum patterns that complement the rest of the piece. You can use one set or pattern of notes or merge different sets. Anything can be done as long as it boosts rather than detracts from your work.

Often, midi drum patterns aren’t really a pattern at all. But rather, they’re comprised of a diverse collection of beats but used as repeating loops and acting as something related to a secondary tier of beat or melody.

To summarize: in making your beats, start with forming a forceful bass line to act as your music’s integral part then solidifying it with fully-developed audio loops and one or a number of midi drum patterns.

If you’re all set to produce your own beats, then don’t let anything stand in your way…make awesome tunes for everyone to hear.
