Personal Injury Lawyers: A Place to Turn When You’re Injured

The state of Florida is huge, so it make sense there would be more auto accidents and personal injury cases than in almost any other state. That would account for there being so many Florida personal injury attorneys. Many people call these type of attorneys “ambulance chasers” but that’s often not a fair assessment.

For example, consider the true story that was told in the movie Erin Brokovich. Can you imagine what would have happened to all those families that were dying of cancer and other diseases because of Pacific Gas & Electric’s willful negligence if a caring attorney (aided by the very stubborn Ms. Brokovich, of course) hadn’t been involved? That story wasn’t specifically about Florida personal injury lawyers but the principle is the same everywhere: personal injury attorneys pursue claims for people who’ve been wronged and deserve compensation. Many would be consigned to lives in wheelchairs or worse with no way to make incomes if they didn’t have attorneys to act as advocates to get them the financial settlements they need to live. Some of the people we saw in Erin Brokovich were children who couldn’t defend themselves. And in some cases the parents were more sick than the children, so they didn’t have the energy to fight for them. If it weren’t for the tenacity of a personal injury lawyer, those people wouldn’t have had the resources to get the medical care they needed or to support them when they became permanently disabled.

Yes, I know there probably are ambulance-chasing lawyers. The stereotype is that they have greasy hair and cheap suits, and they sit in their cars listening to police radios so they can find out about accidents as they happen. There may be some people like that but they certainly don’t represent the industry as a whole. I know for a fact that in the Sunshine State there are many Florida car accident lawyers that have a lot of integrity. Just as with all other groups, it’s not fair to judge. You or somone you know may just need their help someday. If their financial livlihoods depended on it, I’ll bet you that most people would see personal injury and accident attorneys in a new light.
