Brian Clough – His Legacy Lives On
Brian Clough is sadly no longer with us but he is still being talked about even now. He will always be regarded by most football fans as being one of the greatest managers England has ever produced. His greatest achievements were undoubtedly at Notts Forest where he won back to back European cups, but he also turned around the fortunes of Derby County before that.
He will also be fondly remembered as being one of the great characters of the game. He was known for his forthright and often controversial views on various aspects of the game, but sadly this outspokenness didn’t help him achieve one of his ambitions, which was to manage England.
Nevertheless he still has a place in many people’s hearts to this day and indeed in the last few weeks we have seen the UK release of The Damned United DVD, which is a film all about Clough’s ill-fated time at Leeds United back in the 1970s.
Sadly this movie provides a snapshot of Clough’s life during one of the darkest periods of his managerial career, but nevertheless it’s still an excellent film that’s well worth watching, particularly because Michael Sheen does a great job playing the great man.
Anyway it’s clear that Brian Clough will always be regarded as being one of the all-time greats. He truly was a brilliant personality and a great man.
