A Few Positive Aspects of Online Dates

April 25, 2010 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comments Off

There have been many changes in the dating scene in recent years.  This is particularly true when it comes to the ways in which people meet each other.

There are a multitude of dating websites available.  Some of these are open to all types of people, while others cater to particular demographic groups.  Almost all have options for those seeking a gay date, as just one example, although gay dot com seems to dominate that market.  Others cater to seniors, while others focus upon specific religious affiliations.

Online dating has many benefits. The shy dater can feel more open and meet other people without worrying about some of the fears that may accompany those first traditional dates. By the time he or she meets the potential paramour, they already know enough about each other to have learned some common topics for discussion.

At the other extreme, those who are already highly sociable enjoy the online approach due to love the sheer numbers of potential people with whom they might connect. With the large number of members in most online dating sites, arranging multiple dates in relatively fast succession is simple. The Internet allows for discretion and it also enables you to be choosy. You choose partners based on qualities that you find interesting based upon their profiles and your early electronic communication with them. This is an attractive alternative to approaching a potential mate in a bar going on looks alone.

As the online dating community has grown, so too have the number of vendors willing to help you promote yourself. Professional writers and photographers offer services to assist you with your dating profile. They hawk services to help you attract more hits to your online profile, which obviously helps lead to more dating options.

There are many differences among the various dating sites.  Most, although not all, will offer either a trial membership for free or a limited free membership.  These free or introductory offers usually do not include premium services.

Especially as you begin to use the various online dating sites you need to be somewhat careful.  Anyone who has access to the Internet automatically has access to these websites.  Just like in society as a whole, the whole range of people can be there. It is virtually impossible for dating sites to weed out the bad seeds; the online dater must take care in setting up dates with strangers. For your first face-to-face meeting, always arrange to meet in a public location, such as a restaurant or coffee shop. Don’t give away too much information until you have had a good chance to get to know each other.  Certainly keep your address and specific place of work a secret until then. With a responsible attitude and an open mind, online dating can be fun, safe, and exciting.

Having Fun on the Dates While You Look for “The Ideal” Guy

Entertaining date ideas for a gay guy are not too different from those a straight woman might suggest.

Let’s face it. The whole dating thing can be a bit intimidating. However, it really can be one of the most entertaining parts of finding the right relationship with the ideal gay man or straight guy.

1. A classic date idea is going for a round of miniature golf. Mini-golf or Putt Putt, as it is sometimes called is a great way to participate in an invigorating (without being strenuous) activity but still have a meaningful conversation. Golfing is an intimate enough game that will let you to get to know each other while not just sitting in a noisy restaurant. Whether you’re any good at the game or not, teasing each other over your putting talents or lack thereof is a great way to lighten things up and get off to a casual start. Just be sure to leave the side of you that might be a touch too competitive at your house.

2. If you live around a downtown area, a wonderful date is to go for a night on the town. A downtown area always has plenty of varied activities to do. Whether you’re going in and out of stores, or strolling through the park, the environment around you will provide for a great time, and some great memories. The exciting atmosphere of the town will also perk up lots of creative conversation, and is a terrific way to learn about each other. You may even do something that’s unique to the city, such as a stage performance, check out the skyline, or go to the art museum.

3. If both of you are the outside and energetic type, why not try a little rock climbing? There is undoubtedly somewhere in your area where you can enjoy a bit of climbing. Exercise is a reliable way to ease some of the tensions that a date early in your relationship might provide. Many areas have commercial climbing venues.

4. Ice skating is always a great date. Ice skating makes for a very fun time, especially if you don’t know how. There’s nothing like holding onto each other to keep from falling over. Being shaky on the ice is a great means to flirt and act cute with one another, and will always (excuse the pun) break the ice when you’re getting to know someone.

Dating truly should be a fun part of being in or starting a relationship. Establishin a social dating environment is important in order to get to know the other person without introducing any unnecessary anxiety. You might not always remember that lousy movie you endured, but you’re sure to remember the enjoyment of any of these fun date ideas.
