Window_Air_Conditioning_Unit_Energy_Consumption
There is nothing more luxurious to a desert dweller than entering their cool home on a sultry afternoon. Cool as in temperature cool. It is so easy to get spoiled living in a centrally cooled home with a central air unit. Each room is as cool as the next. I have known people who wore a sweater in their air conditioned home rather than attempting to find a setting that is cooler than the outdoor temperature yet not freezing cold. These people have a lot of expendable cash and don’t mind their huge energy bills. I have separate air conditioners in my windows, and I even have a portable air conditioner to deal with my cooling requirements.
On the other hand, I have to watch my energy consumption, and that includes my air conditioning bill during the summer months. I wait until the temperature inside is too high to be made tolerable with a fan. That is when my window air conditioning units pay for themselves. On the other hand, some people say that re-cooling the house every day expends more energy than always leaving it at one temperature. In my case, my method works best for me, according to my electric bill!
The only areas I cool are the rooms in which I live. This eliminates the bathrooms, laundry room, pantry and porch areas. In the cool of the evening, I open my windows and let the cool air enter. I close the curtains and windows in the morning before the sun comes up. If I am out of the house during the day, the units are shut off. When I return in the evening, the units are turned on the lowest setting it will take to make the rooms I am using comfortable. I don’t cool my bedroom until an hour before bedtime.
If I’m home in the day, the windows and curtains stay shut. The units are turned on the lowest setting possible. I constrain myself to the instant living areas ; kitchen, living room or den. The unit in my bedroom is shut off. A cold shower in the day helps me to adapt to the temperature. I do not wish to have to chill the house because I have worked up a sweat cleaning or exercising.
These few, straightforward tips keep my energy bill down and help me to remain cushty in the heat of summer.

Wind Farms Restrictions as Energy Platforms
As modern society searches around for alternative energy sources, wind farms are getting mention. There are, however, limitations regarding wind farms as major energy alternatives.
Wind Farms Restrictions as Energy Platforms
Wind power is an enticing energy platform compared to fossil fuels. The process works by using the inherent energy in wind as a method for producing electricity. The actual methodology is much like hydropower, but with wind used in place of water. Wind turbines catch the wind, which turns their blades. This turning motion cranks a generator that produces electricity. The electricity is stored in batteries or fed into the electrical grid of a utility. Walla, you have power!
Using wind energy for local wishes has been around for a very long time. The Persians are said to be first to use it with the purpose being to turn grain grinding stones. In modern times, the only purpose is to generate power. On a massive scale, this suggests wind farms.
Wind farms are simply enormous collections of wind turbines in an outlined area. If you’ve ever driven east out of San Francisco, you have seen the wind farm along the freeway. Even though it is both stimulating and a pollution free source of electricity, a wind farm has definite restrictions.
The largest limitation of wind farms is the electricity produced. In simple terms they don’t produce huge amounts, definitely not on the scale required in most towns in industrialized countries. Manifestly , each location is dissimilar, but wind is just not a continuing occurrence in most places. Even if it is, the quantity of turbines required to provide sufficient energy for a town is mind astounding. This, naturally, leads to a second limitation.
Wind farms need to cover a lot of physical space to produce large amounts of electricity. In many industrialized countries, space is at a premium. As a result, the sheer cost of purchasing land for wind farms is prohibitive. This issue, however, is losing some of its grit as offshore wind farms are becoming more prevalent.
To some, one of the limitations of wind farms is they are eyesores. Personally, I think they are mesmerizing and have an artistic appearance. Others, however, definitely do not agree. The Cape Wind offshore wind farm project has met with massive resistance for just this reason.
The constraints of wind farms are reasonably serious at about that point in time. As technology and new approaches , for example offshore wind farms, come to the forefront, these issues may fall the wayside.

The One Of The Energy Sources That Is Gaining In Interest
Most power plants in the US and all over world are using carbon-based fuels to operate and generate electrical energy. Fossil fuel has been used as a source of energy so long as man has learned to generate power. Fossil fuel has been around for ages and when man started to use this sources of energy nobody though about the results. Normal fuels will run out and there’ll be a deficit of it in near future. This lack in fossil fuel will have its affect on our daily live and diverse industries. Today we see a number of these has effects on already, fossil fuel prizes are raising and electricity is starting to become costlier. Though traditional fuels are way more shocks, to require for normal fuels will still be here and won’t fall in near future. To unravel this deficit of carbon-based fuels we’re going to need to have a look for other probabilities for our energy demand.
Fortunately, alternative power sources are growing in fees. As an example, locations with high water falls are experimenting on building a hydro-electric power plant, which turns out to achieve success. Other locations with high wind speed utilize a power wind mills that may convert wind energy into electricity. Also thermal and tidal powers are good choices.
Solar energy is also one of the sources of energy that’s gaining in charges. Solar power has steadily been growing. Today solar power is employed generally in the USA and the benefits are common. Our solar power source, the sun, its life-span is reckoned to be another 4.5 billion years. It is fair to claim that this power source is kind of unending.
Rate of power from the Sun
The sun’s radiation reaches a certain unit of area in space in the region of the Earth’s orbit and is estimated to be at 1,400 watts per square meter. Out of this, photovoltaic cells (also known as solar cells) can capture 19 to 56 watts per square meter (for 15% efficiency) or an equivalent of 0.45 to 1.35 kilowatt per hour (kWh) in an annual day and night average.
Therefore, if there would be more area that will be covered by several solar panels, these panels can produce slightly more energy in the form of electricity than what is currently available from oil, gas, and other sources of energy combined (assuming 8% solar cell efficiency).
Conversion of Solar Energy
There are 2 ways of conversion of solar power. First is the direct solar power which involves only 1 conversion into a serviceable form. As an example :
Sunlight hits the solar cell, changing it into electricity.
Sunlight hits the absorber surface of a solar thermal collector, changing into thermal energy which may be employed to heat houses during cold season.
The second is the indirect solar energy which involves more than one conversion to reach a usable form. For instance:
Plants use photosynthesis to transform solar power to chemical energy, which can be burned later as fuel to generate electricity ( AKA bio-fuel technology ).
Hydroelectric dams and turbines are indirectly supplied by solar power thru its interactions with the Earth’s atmosphere.
Pros and Cons of solar power
Just like every other sorts of energy resources, solar power has its bits and bobs.
Pros :
Pollution-free.
Solar facilities can be run with tiny additional input or upkeep.
It is abounding. As discussed earlier, almost all of the inhabited areas here on Earth can be reached by daylight.
Cons:
Although it is abounding, non-tropical locations can receive small daylight. Therefore , power that’ll be produced in these locations is a minimum.
Only during daytime therefore unavailable during night time.
Photovoltaic cell technologies generate direct current ( DC ) power which should be converted to AC ( AC ) power employed in distribution grids.
Once huge development of the utilization of solar power is materialized, expect that each household or industry in the world will now be powered by solar power. It isn’t just a dream, it’ll be a waking dream.
