My Terrible Experience With A Window Replacement Company

January 31, 2010 · Filed Under Uncategorized · Comments Off

A couple of years back I needed to replace my windows and being the tech savvy person that I am, I resorted to surf the internet to look for a replacement window company. I used a search engine to find one online through one of those “find it all sites”.

I emailed them and asked for a quotation. I had no idea then that it was necessary to have them come over and do on site consultation. They took roughly four days to reply and requested that I provide some details relating to my home. I should have seen the signs right here but being naïve I sent the details.

A few days later the quotation eventualy came through that was enough to make me thrilled. I thought this internet thing really works. I just had a few concerns with the quote, nothing big just routine questions. I checked for their number on the quote and gave them a call.

This is is when the real trouble began. They kept transferring me to one person after another until I got fed up. When I eventually talked to someone they informed me the quote was a basic one – they would have to come my place for a final one.

They didn’t show up on the agreed date and when I called them up they were hardly apologetic at all. They made excuses about how busy they were and what time of the year it was and so on.

This was when it dawned on me that I was not getting anywhere with these guys and I cancelled the deal.

For a moment there I felt like there were no reliable sources for good replacement window agencies online. I am not trying to scare you or anything but only saying that you should be extra when looking for a replacement window company online. I have written a number of vinyl replacement windows compare or comparison-based reviews. Every time I look at the various aspects of the topic. Today I have picked some few brands that I want us to look at. I have not limited this article to only these so do go through it right to the end.

You can purchase the Milgard Tuscany vinyl windows for your residential home. I have found them to work great except that they do not tilt-in especially the single hung one. The result is that it’s difficult when trying to clean them. Besides all that when I considered the other brands like Amerimax, Atrium and Simonton – Milgard was the lowest in terms of cost.

Next to consider is Anlin. In my opinion these are okay but I came across someone who had purcahsed them in an attempt to save energy telling me that they didn’t perform as good. Don’t be fooled by the sales person saying these are the best energy saving windows. I guess there are better options when looking for energy efficient ones. Besides that, these operate well, however, they highly priced.

You can also try and make use of Polybau. I personally cannot complain about their charges – when compared to some I have seen. The only issue that I have noted with these is the service provided by the seller. Although I do not have personal experience with this but I have read in my blog comments about how the service guys are always late or don’t even show up.

Then there is also Amerimax. They are genuinely nice. One thing I love about them is that they are energy efficient and also keep the sound out. The double hung ones are easy to clean so you might opt for those.

Also on the list is Pella – this is a good company with great windows but I am not impressed with their Pella ThermaStar. In my opinion they are low-quality vinyl windows for those people wanting a cheap price.

When looking at vinyl replacement windows – look at various things not just the price. You need to consider at the service, durability, functionality and proximity of the supplier.
