So, I saw an article recently on the How to Get a Flat Stomach Fast blog that talks about weight loss tips for the employed. Though it seems like common sense, many people who work a full time job plus believe they’re the only ones in the situation, and that they do not have enough time to work out. All I can say is, hardly!

We all have a 40 hour job that takes up more like 50-60 hours with extra work plus time spent in the car. We all have to brush our teeth and eat, which are of course part of taking care of ourselves. The goal of losing weight sometimes seems so difficult, that we don’t bother sitting down to figure out the next step – even though that next step may be relatively simple!

Now, let’s review a few tips you should keep in mind as you figure out how to lose weight while attending the day job you love so much:

1. Load up your iPod! Certainly you know that working out with your favorite music is a lot less boring than trying to exercise with no music at all, or – even worse – that godawful music spewing forth at the gym! You may get a different type of garbage playing at gyms in different neighborhoods, but the common denominator is it’s not very good. Take your own tunes, drown out the noise and get to it!

2. Find a partner: Having someone at the gym to motivate you, and someone to call you the day before to make sure you show up, is one of the most frequently cited motivators. You also may be like me, and want ot work out alone, so I advise you to think this one through first. It helps to have a spotter, but you may just be tired of people at the end of the day – if this is you, go alone and don’t make yourself dread it.

3. Do what you enjoy: You may realize this already, but for working out different muscle groups, there are several different choices. If you dislike a certain exercise or one causes you pain, and you prefer another, do that instead! Do some Google searches to find alternates for the ones you don’t like – again, you can reach your goals without doing things that hurt or things you hate.

4. Pace Yourself: In this case, I’m not saying that you should go slow and ramp up – I’m saying that you should go hard enough that you feel results the next day, and a bit of soreness. Otherwise you won’t keep going!

Now go forth, you have some tips that should make you think about how to get started and how to get a flat stomach fast!
